New CPSC Electronic Filing Requirements Take Effect July 8, 2026: What Importers Need to Know?

WHAT'S CHANGING?

Today, compliance certification for CPSC-regulated products is largely a manual, paper-based process. Under the new rule, importers must e-file their certificate data directly to CBP and the CPSC at the moment of entry.

This isn't a new certification requirement; products that already need a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) or General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) still need one. What's changing is how that data gets reported: electronically, in real time, and tied directly to the entry filing. The goal is faster risk screening and quicker identification of non-compliant shipments before they reach the domestic market.
