Brussels and Changi Collaborate on Cargo Operations

Lim Ching Kiat (L), Changi Airport Group and Geert Aerts, Brussels Airport Company

Brussels Airport Company (BAC) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on multiple cargo projects, such as pharmaceutical logistics, digitalization, and sustainability initiatives, as well as sharing best practices. One of the projects the airports will undertake is the Green Air Pharma Corridor study, with other Pharma. Aero members, to establish a green lane with a set of sustainability standards that must be achieved throughout the supply chain.

BAC's Chief Cargo and Real Estate Officer, Geert Aerts, commented, "We are excited to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with Changi Airport, which will extend our long-standing collaboration. By exchanging information and leveraging our partnership to jointly handle obstacles and opportunities, we may improve the connection between our hubs." Lim Ching Kiat, CAG's Executive Vice President of Air Hub and Cargo Development, added, "Handling capabilities are essential to the competitiveness of the air cargo ecosystem," and that the partnership with BAC would enable CAG to enhance Changi Airport's air cargo processes for greater handling efficiency.

Since 2016, these two airports have collaborated on a number of ventures, including the development of Pharma. Aero with Miami International Airport. Brussels Airport has a well-established passenger network and a unique cargo platform called BRUcargo with strong community-driven expertise in handling pharmaceuticals and life sciences, perishables, e-commerce, and live animals, while Changi Airport has extensive experience and expertise in managing airports in Singapore and around the world.
