BEIJING, Dec. 8 - China's e-commerce logistics index reached a remarkable seven-year high in November, as reported by a survey conducted by the China Logistics and Purchasing Federation (CFLP) in collaboration with e-commerce giant JD.com. This milestone reflects the continued growth and efficiency of logistics operations supporting the nation's e-commerce industry.
The index, a key measure of logistics performance, hit 115.5 points, marking a 0.5-point increase from October. The record-setting performance comes despite the early start of this year's "Double Eleven" sales promotions, which began a month earlier than usual, underscoring the sustained demand for e-commerce logistics services.
The sub-index for total business volume climbed to 134.1 points in November, a 0.4-point month-on-month increase. This growth indicates a robust rise in demand across the sector, driven by high-volume sales events and the expanding reach of e-commerce platforms.
Rural demand contributed significantly to the overall growth, with the sub-index for rural business volume reaching 134.5 points, up by 2.3 points from the previous month. This surge highlights the growing penetration of e-commerce services in China's rural regions, supported by improved infrastructure and targeted initiatives to bridge the urban-rural logistics gap.
The survey also revealed that China's logistics enterprises enhanced their supply chain efficiency during November, particularly during the "Double Eleven" shopping festival. Sub-indices related to supply efficiency demonstrated steady improvements, reflecting advancements in order processing, delivery speed, and last-mile operations.
According to the federation, logistics has transitioned from being a bottleneck in e-commerce growth to a driving force behind its expansion. By offering diversified services and optimizing operational efficiency, logistics providers have played a pivotal role in boosting the sector.
This transformation is attributed to several factors:
Technological Integration: Automation, AI, and big data analytics have streamlined operations, enabling faster deliveries and improved accuracy.
Infrastructure Development: Investments in warehousing, transportation networks, and digital platforms have supported the scalability of logistics operations.
Customized Solutions: Tailored services for different consumer segments, including rural customers, have expanded e-commerce reach.
The record-breaking performance of China's e-commerce logistics index signals a promising future for the industry. With the continuous evolution of logistics technologies and the expansion of rural e-commerce markets, the sector is expected to maintain its upward trajectory.
As China's digital economy continues to thrive, logistics will remain a cornerstone of its e-commerce ecosystem, ensuring seamless operations and meeting the diverse needs of consumers.
This comprehensive growth demonstrates the resilience and adaptability of China's e-commerce logistics sector, positioning it as a global leader in the digital economy.
