Delta Cargo Unveils Largest Cooling Facility at JFK to Support Temperature-Sensitive Cargo

Delta Cargo has recently announced the launch of the largest cooling facility at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), designed to cater to temperature-sensitive cargo. The facility will serve as the primary cold chain facility for pharmaceutical and healthcare products, while also enabling the shipment of perishable cargo such as fresh produce.

Enhanced Control and Oversight with Expert Temperature Monitoring

The new facility offers expert temperature monitoring, enhanced control and oversight, and specially trained and certified staff to ensure precise handling and integrity of the cold chain. It features dedicated chambers for pharmaceuticals and perishable goods, each with distinct temperature zones designed to maintain products at their specific required temperature throughout the entire journey.

Humidity Control Capabilities and Seafood Capacity

Additionally, the cooler has humidity control capabilities, and dedicated capacity for seafood, ensuring that customers' cargo arrives at its destination as fresh as the time it was packed. The facility provides a reliable and secure environment to move time and temperature-sensitive shipments through the Northeast corridor.

Investing in Expanding Cold Chain Footprint

Rob Walpole, Vice President of Delta Cargo, stated that this facility is just one of the significant investments that Delta is making to innovate and expand its service offerings to its cargo customers. By expanding the company's cold chain footprint and leveraging its extensive partner and route network at JFK, Delta Cargo is offering an unparalleled set of options for customers looking to move temperature-sensitive shipments through the region.

    Supporting the Transformation of JFK

Delta Cargo's investment in the transformation of JFK airport reflects its commitment to providing world-class service to its customers. Teresa Rizzuto, JFK General Manager, added that the cargo cooler is the latest of Delta's significant investments in the airport's transformation. It is another example of Delta's partnership in creating a world-class global gateway at JFK that not only features a best-in-class passenger experience but also state-of-the-art cargo handling that will strengthen the supply chain and boost the region's economy.

    Delta's Largest Global Carrier

Delta is JFK's largest global carrier, operating up to 34 flights to 26 cities across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including the top 10 pharma markets. The airline also provides services to key Latin American and Caribbean markets. With this investment, Delta Cargo is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for temperature-sensitive cargo transportation, offering its customers exceptional service and reliability.
