Maersk integrates West & Central Asia and Africa to form a new combined IMEA region

AP Moller-Maersk, a logistics and shipping company, has announced the formation of the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa (IMEA) region by combining the West & Central Asia and Africa regions.

The Driving Force Behind Maersk's West & Central Asia and Africa Integration

Maersk merges West & Central Asia and Africa into IMEA region, including India, Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, and Ghana. This integration is in response to the post-pandemic market's ever-changing conditions, such as softening demand, evolving customer behavior, and an increasing need for competitive and reliable logistics. Maersk has reorganized itself geographically to match the majority of its customers.

Richard Morgan has been appointed as the IMEA region's managing director. He emphasized the significance of evolving and organizing themselves similarly to how the majority of their customers are geographically organized.

The IMEA region is located in a geographically advantageous area with the natural advantage of creating hubs for ocean and air transport that will connect the global manufacturing and consumer markets. This will enable Maersk to provide its customers with competitive, dependable, and resilient logistics services.
