    The Port of Long Beach witnessed a surge in throughput in March, attributed to heightened consumer confidence, marking the seventh consecutive month of year-over-year cargo growth.

    During the first quarter of 2024, the Port handled 2,002,820 TEU, reflecting a 16.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

    Dockworkers and terminal operators managed to move 654,082 TEU last month, representing an 8.3 percent rise from March 2023.

    Imports experienced an 8.4 percent uptick, reaching 302,521 TEU, while exports saw a decline of 21.3 percent to 105,099 TEU. Notably, empty container movements surged by 28.9 percent to 246,464 TEU.
