My supplier sent me the original bill of lading. Do I need to send this somewhere? Can I just scan and email a copy, or do you need me to send the physical document?
When dealing with originals, the bill of lading must be endorsed and sent to the carrier for freight release, without it, the cargo will not be released and might be subject to demurrage fees if not done within a certain timeframe.
Do you know if my cargo will go into exam?
Unfortunately, we do not control exams. Customs can choose any cargo to undergo an exam at any given time. Cargo can be held for exams even after customs has cleared.
How much are exam fees?
Exam fees depend on the size of your cargo. If you are shipping a full container, you will bear the cost for the entire exam fee. If you are shipping loose cargo, the fees will be shared between all of the consignees sharing that container.
Why does it take long to become available for pick-up at the CFS?
Loose cargo usually takes 3-5 days to discharge off the vessel after the ETA and an additional 2-3 days to become available at the CFS warehouse.
When will my shipment clear customs?
We typically clear customs 1 or 2 days before the shipment arrives to the port of destination. There may be complications while clearing customs which might delay this timeframe.
